3-Dimensional Indoor Positioning System based on WI-FI Received Signal Strength using Greedy Algorithm and Parallel Resilient Propagation

The importance of services, based on current location of objects is growing. This is because Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) cannot provide object position inside buildings. In modern era the Location Based Services (LBS) are tremendously dependent on Indoor Positioning System (IPS). Parallel RPROP and greedy algorithm were combined for development of IPS using Received Signal Strengt...

Received Signal Strength Database Interpolation by Kriging for a Wi-Fi Indoor Positioning System

The main approach for a Wi-Fi indoor positioning system is based on the received signal strength (RSS) measurements, and the fingerprinting method is utilized to determine the user position by matching the RSS values with the pre-surveyed RSS database. To build a RSS fingerprint database is essential for an RSS based indoor positioning system, and building such a RSS fingerprint database requir...

Refining Wi-fi Based Indoor Positioning

The increasing demand for location-based services inside buildings has made indoor positioning a significant research topic. This study deals with indoor positioning using the Wireless Ethernet IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) standard that has a distinct advantage of low cost over other indoor wireless technologies. Most of the proposed Wi-Fi indoor positioning systems use either proximity detection via ra...

Using Cameras to Improve Wi-Fi Based Indoor Positioning

Indoor positioning systems are increasingly being deployed to enable indoor navigation and other indoor location-based services. Systems based on Wi-Fi and video cameras rely on different technologies and techniques and have so far been developed independently by different research communities; we show that integrating information provided by a video system into a Wi-Fi based system increases i...
